Max practiced law for more than a decade at Miller Nash in Portland, where he represented clients in business, securities, and real estate matters. He was elected to the Oregon Legislature for three terms, representing East Washington County and Chaired the House Judiciary Committee. Max then pivoted to the Executive Branch of state government and spent 8 years leading the Oregon Department of Corrections, one of the State’s largest and most complex agencies. More recently Max spent the last 11 years leading the state’s largest public charity as the President and CEO on Oregon Community Foundation. Max is an influential force within and outside Oregon, leveraging his deep experience across government, philanthropic, and business domains to help transform communities.
